ONLINE TRAINING PROGRAMMES

How are Coached training programmes different from other running and triathlon programmes?

Great question. Firstly, unlike most programmes, we don’t just focus exclusively on results. While we obviously work to make sure you see results, we don’t sacrifice long-term performance for a short-term gain at your expense.

Next, unlike most coaches who prescribe their programmes in distance and pace, Coached is a heart rate training programme that uses time and heart rate in our programmes. Because our programmes are designed for working athletes, the time/heart rate combination helps us to balance the stress of training and the stress of life, ensuring you improve in a way that is healthy and enjoyable.

Lastly, we don’t use a generic training platform like training peaks or final surge. The Coached web app is a custom built, proprietary platform designed to support and connect Coached athletes and coaches.

How long must I sign up for your programme for?

Unlike most other coaches and programmes, we do not lock our athlete’s into a fixed term. We offer a monthly membership and annual membership where you get two months for free. You may cancel any membership easily at any time from your membership page of the Coached training platform.

Do I have to do lab testing to benefit from your programme?

No, not at all. The majority of our members have never done lab testing and are getting great results. If you don’t do testing, we use formulas and field testing to establish training zones and to track progress.

The lab testing allows us to further optimise your training, nutrition and fuelling and it helps you to understand your current physical condition and why your programme is structured the way that it is.

Do I have to have to use a heart rate monitor to benefit from your programme?

No, you don’t have to use a HRM but we definitely recommend it. Heart rate provides an objective way for us to prescribe training intensity in our programmes in a way that takes into consideration stressors from outside of training.

All our training plans use RPE (how it should feel) and heart rate zone to prescribe intensity within a session.

What level of fitness do I need to be at before I join a programme?

There is no minimum level of fitness required to start our training programmes. Each programme is custom built based on your goals, athletic background, current fitness level and time availability.

On top of that, we use heart rate and time to prescribe our training which helps to self-correct for different levels of fitness. When you’re unfit, your HR will be high and as a result, you’ll have to go very easy to maintain the desired heart rate. As a result, you’ll cover less mileage in the stated time than someone who is well-conditioned.

COACHED LAB

Where is your lab located?

Our lab is centrally located in the heart of the Singapore CBD. You’ll find us at 144 Robinson Rd, 10-02. Please note that we’re open by appointment only so it is best to contact us before coming down.

Which test is best for me to do?

That depends on your goal. If you’re not sure which test will be most useful, please drop us an email at hello@coached.fitness and let us know your goals. From there, we’ll be happy to recommend the best service for you.

What are the benefits of testing?

Like a doctor uses an x-ray or a CT scan to look into your body and make a diagnosis, we use sports science testing to look into your body and to see how efficient it is working. Based on the results, we can optimise the way you train, eat and live and very accurately track your progress.

What level of fitness do I need to do testing?

There are no minimum fitness level requirements to do testing. Our experienced consultants will establish a test protocol which is suitable for your current level of fitness.

How often do I need to test?

That depends a little on your goal. Typically we recommend our runners and triathletes to do a follow up 3 - 4 months after their baseline test. For people with weight loss goals, it’s usually a little earlier.

Are there any pre-test instructions I need to be aware of?

After you book your test, you’ll be sent a document outlining all pre-test instructions. For most tests, you need to come rested so avoid hard or long training the day prior to your test.

Can I shower after my test?

Yes, we have a small shower where you can clean up and change after your test. Please make sure you bring a towel with you.

How can I pay?

We accept cash, nets, visa and MasterCard.
